$300 HOME MAKEOVER

You can do these quick and simple things to "dress up" the look of your home as buyers drive by, making your home a "MUST SEE" on their shopping lists:

-Keep the words, clean and fresh in your mind, look around at everything that you can see from the street....Is it clean? Is it fresh?

-Install fresh brand new lighting fixtures on the front of your home by replacing your current, worn out looking ones, if you make them upgraded to sensor lighting this is a bonus to buyers. -$45-$100 and 30 minutes' time

-Install a new fresh coat of paint on your freshly cleaned front door. (Use TSP to clean it, then apply one pint of an appealing but striking color to your front door.) -$20 and 2 hours' time

- How does your front door handle look? Is it worn out looking? Does the lock work properly? Is it beautiful? If not, replace it with a fresh new lock/handle. -$40-$125, one hour

- Install a new mailbox if you have one on your property. -$20-40 and 30 minutes

- Install new ADDRESS numbers on your home, there are many nice designs available. -$15

- Have you thought about installing a garage door opener key pad? This is a bonus feature for buyers and is handy for entering garage when you are outside without your remote. -$125 and 1 hour

- Mow and trim the lawn, feed it with some weed and feed, make sure to trim the edges carefully. -$15 for fertilizer

- Trim all the shrubs -one hour

- Clean and scrub the sidewalk and driveway with bio-degradable cleaner -$20 and 30 minutes

- Wash the windows, most especially wash the front windows that you see from the street. -one hour

- Make sure to remove any cars or vehicle you do not normally use away from your property, park them at a friend or relatives' house or donate them to charity. The fewer cars around the better your home shows.

- Keep your garage door closed during marketing period, it doesn't look good to see inside the garage when driving by.

- Put garbage cans in backyard or garage if you keep them in your front yard, DON'T do it during marketing time.

- Buy a fresh new, clean "welcome" door mat. Feng Shui specialists say to ensure there is NO dark borders of any type around the edges of the welcome mat design, to some people this dark border does NOT denote "welcome!".
